PREVIEW: The Nice Ones (2026 Film) - Ayvianna Snow Makes Her Producing Debut With New Psychological Horror

The Nice Ones is shaping up to be an intriguing new addition to the psychological horror and sci-fi thriller landscape, with Joelle Rae and Emrhys Cooper leading a story that takes a seemingly relaxing countryside getaway and turns it into something much more disturbing.

Coming to UK cinemas on 19th November, the film follows a group of friends whose Airbnb escape takes a terrifying turn when Kate witnesses strange lights moving across the night sky. As tensions within the group begin to rise, an unsettling force starts to seep into the house, leaving Kate facing both an otherworldly threat and the darkest parts of her own past.

The combination of psychological horror and science fiction immediately makes The Nice Ones an appealing prospect, particularly with the filmmakers drawing inspiration from genre classics such as The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Written and directed by Peter Stylianou, whose 2024 vampire film Drained marked him as an intriguing new voice in independent filmmaking, the film looks set to take those familiar genre ingredients somewhere suitably sinister.

There is also a particularly exciting story behind the camera, as The Nice Ones marks the producing debut of actor Ayvianna Snow. Having appeared in projects including How to Kill Monsters, Snow has now launched her own production company, Snow Pictures, with The Nice Ones serving as its first feature.

Snow produces alongside Peter Stylianou and Nick Lavelle, making the film an important first step for Snow Pictures while also bringing together several members of the cast and creative team in different roles.

Stylianou has offered an intriguing insight into the ideas behind the film, explaining:

"Instead of making darkness the source of fear, as so many horror films do, I wanted to explore light, and the darker, more disturbing, cult-like side of worshipping it. The Nice Ones is a mix of the Manson Family and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, exploring what happens when something that appears beautiful, pure and inviting becomes deeply sinister."

That idea of turning something normally associated with beauty and safety into a source of fear certainly gives The Nice Ones an interesting hook. Rather than simply relying on darkness to create an atmosphere of dread, the film appears to be playing with the idea that something bright and inviting can be every bit as unsettling.

Alongside Rae and Cooper, the cast includes Donna Preston, known for The Sandman and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Ian Whyte from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Daniela Norman from Tiny Pretty Things, James Akka from The Sandman, Nick Lavelle from Red XII, Tom Kelsey from National Theatre Live: Dr. Strangelove and Andrew Lyle-Pinnock from The Little Mermaid.

With its countryside setting, mysterious lights, increasingly strained friendships and an apparently sinister force closing in, The Nice Ones has plenty of ingredients to make this one worth keeping an eye on. The involvement of Snow Pictures also gives the project an added layer of interest, with Snow stepping behind the scenes for her first feature as a producer.

The Nice Ones arrives in UK cinemas on 19th November, while streaming releases in North America and other territories begin from 29th September.

Filming has wrapped on The Nice Ones, a new psychological horror-thriller from writer and director Peter Stylianou. After gaining attention with his 2024 vampire feature Drained, Stylianou returns with a story that blends intimate paranoia with unsettling cosmic dread.

The film stars Joelle Rae (The Witcher) and Emrhys Cooper (Nosferatu) as Kate and Dale, a couple whose countryside trip with friends unravels in terrifying fashion. What begins as a carefree reunion at a chic Airbnb soon turns sinister after Kate spots strange lights in the sky. As paranoia takes hold, tensions within the group fracture, and an unseen force begins to infiltrate their retreat. Kate must face both her past and a threat that feels disturbingly otherworldly.

Stylianou describes the project as an exploration of identity and trust, playing with the fear that those closest to us may not be who they appear to be. Produced by RG Films, Level 33 Entertainment, and Snow Pictures, the feature also marks Ayvianna Snow’s first step into producing, after building a career with more than seventy screen roles. Level 33 will oversee worldwide distribution.

The Nice Ones promises a sharp mix of character-driven tension and eerie, supernatural unease, setting up Stylianou as a filmmaker to watch in the independent horror space.

Ayvianna Snow Brings Horror to Life in Rumpelstiltskin and St. Patrick’s Day Massacre

 

British horror star Ayvianna Snow is set to terrify audiences once again with two chilling new films, Rumpelstiltskin and St. Patrick’s Day Massacre. Known for her commanding presence in independent horror, she continues to cement her place as one of the most exciting talents in the genre. Both films, arriving this March, promise to deliver gripping suspense, eerie atmospheres, and the kind of fear that lingers long after the credits roll.

In Rumpelstiltskin, a fresh take on the terrifying childhood tale, Ayvianna plays a deadly Succubus who lures unsuspecting men to their doom. Meanwhile, in St. Patrick’s Day Massacre, she takes on a very different but equally unsettling role. Ayvianna plays Kendra, a college student whose night out with friends takes a deadly turn when they are lured into staying at a strange Irish tavern. As the night unfolds, a vengeful undead killer begins picking them off one by one. With Kendra’s obsessive need for cleanliness pushing her to take a late-night shower, the question looms, will this simple act seal her fate? Directed by Steve Lawson, the film promises high tension and brutal slasher thrills, set for release on 10th March.

Interview with Dean Kilbey

Jon: So, Dean, you have three films in this year's FrightFest. That’s quite an achievement. Tell us about the films and your involvement.

Dean: Yes, I’m very happy about it, especially as it’s the 25th anniversary. It’s such a massive festival, and I feel very privileged. I play the lead, Alan, in Members Club by writer-director Marc Coleman, which is the Saturday night main screen feature film. It sold out all 800 tickets in 30 minutes! We’re all still pretty shocked about it, to be honest.

It’s a comedy horror about an over-the-hill male stripper group that ends up in a working men’s club and somehow gets involved in a plot to bring a 16th-century witch back from the dead. Yes, it’s mad, gory, and very, very funny. The cast is incredible, packed with top actors, including Perry Benson, Marc Monero, Steve Oram, Juliet Cowan, David Schaal, and even Peter Andre pops up. Plus, the rest of the cast from Marc’s first film, ManFish, Liam Noble, Emma Stannard, and David Alexander, are like family now.

I’m very excited for people to see this. Marc, the director, is a mad genius, and it was such fun to shoot.

Jon: You’re also the male lead in the feature film Charlotte, playing Roy, a completely different character from Alan in Members Club.

Dean: Well, yes, very different. Alan is a happy-go-lucky type, whereas Roy has a very dark side with many mood changes. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? You’ll have to watch to find out. Without giving too much away, Charlotte has many twists and turns and really messes with your head.

Jon: Charlotte has been recommended as one of the top five terrifying films to watch at FrightFest this year. How does that feel?

Dean: Very proud, but I’m just part of the team. Writer-director Georgia Conlan and co-writer, DoP, and editor Martin Hardwick deserve all the credit. Those two literally did everything between them, and I’m so pleased that their hard work and talent have been recognised. I really hope this serves as a calling card for their talent.

Jon: Can you tell us about the story?

Dean: It’s difficult to talk about this one without spoilers, so I’ll just say it’s about a young schoolgirl who has run away from an abusive household and has been taken in by an older man who is trying to help get her back home. Yes, he has a past, but that doesn’t make him a bad man, or does it? Seriously, it’s a very clever story, just watch it!

Jon: And finally, your third film, Derelict. This looks like a gritty and atmospheric feature, shot partly in black and white. What can you tell us about it?

Dean: This film is a cinematic masterpiece. Director and writer Jonathan Zaurin has woven together such a breathtaking and heartbreaking revenge thriller with some of the most beautiful shots you’ve ever seen on film.

You may think I’m biased. Well, yes, I am, but I’m not the only one. He is already receiving rave reviews and being described in the same vein as Shane Meadows and Ben Wheatley films.

Jon: That’s a pretty strong statement. So, what makes this film so impressive?

Dean: Honestly, it’s a work of art. To be so visually stunning while also being so bleak is a skill in itself. The story is about a girl, played by the brilliant lead Suzanne Fulton, who loses her father, me, to a senseless attack and goes on a journey to find those who were responsible and help find peace within herself.

She really draws you in, and you feel every pain she is experiencing. The rest of the cast, too many to name them all, Micky Combes, Pete Bird, Darren King, Ayvianna Snow, all put in amazing, gritty, nuanced performances, and I feel very lucky to be part of this great film. I truly believe this is something very special.

Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned the original score by Michael Sanchez. It’s a totally immersive experience that is as beautiful as it is tragic.

Jon: Well, I can honestly say they all sound fantastic. Dare I ask, do you have a favourite film?

Dean: You can ask, but I can’t answer that. They are all so different, it’s impossible to compare. I will say that they are all at the top of their game in terms of their own genres, whether it’s comedy horror, psychological drama, or revenge thriller. I’m very proud to be involved in all three, playing totally different characters.

Jon: So, after FrightFest, what’s next for you?

Dean: Well, hopefully, the films will all do well in the big wide world and bring me more opportunities, but also get these filmmakers and other actors the recognition they deserve. Remember their names, you will definitely be hearing more from them.

Interview with Ayvianna Snow

Can you tell us a little about your latest film projects?

I star in cult director Michael Fausti's much anticipated second feature film, Burnt Flowers- it's a haunting and surreal Horror-Noir and I play a mysterious femme fatale, Alice Kyteller, who approaches Detective Franc Alban (Amber Doig-Thorne) to search for her missing husband. In Punch - a gothic, end-of-the-pier slasher film, which is streaming now, I make a cameo as an ill-fated party guest who becomes an unfortunate victim of the local seaside bogeyman, Mr Punch. I also star as a vampire in Sean Cronin's upcoming new film, Bogieville.

Which character/s have you enjoyed playing most in your films so far, and why?

I enjoyed my role in Yellow playing a sex worker; the film is about the misogyny and abuse faced by women who do sex work. I like being able to use my horror platform to shed light on a serious issue, and I am passionate about women's rights. Yellow screens at Romford Horror this month!

What has been your most challenging role to date?

The role of Anna in Derelict was challenging emotionally because of what the character is going through- she is struggling with drug addiction and being forced into prostitution as a result. Whereas Bogieville was challenging on a physical level; lots of jumping around in heavy prosthetic make-up; I even did my own stunts on set!

What recent (and/or classic) horror movie have you watched that has scared or unnerved you?

I love classic horror performances: Tom Cruise in Interview With The Vampire or Gary Oldman in Dracula.

Which horror film have you watched most and why?

I love to rewatch The Shining; it's such a multi-layered film I get something new from it with each viewing.

What's next for you?

Bogieville and Derelict are both out this summer!

The versatile performer and reigning queen of horror, Ayvianna Snow, known for her roles in films like "LOLA," "White Colour Black," "Black Lake," "Barun Rai And The House On The Cliff," "Hollow," and "The Lockdown Hauntings," is set to make a triumphant return with a lineup of highly anticipated new movies. In "How to Kill Monsters," Ayvianna takes on the character of Velma. The film, directed by Stewart Sparke (known for "Book of Monsters"), pays homage to the horror movies of the 80s and 90s that influenced the director's upbringing. This thrilling and humorous movie follows the lone survivor of a gruesome massacre as she joins forces with a motley crew of rookie cops and miscreants to protect a police station from an invasion of Lovecraftian monsters from a different dimension. The movie's practical effects bring an array of monsters to life, accompanied by copious amounts of fake blood and gore, satisfying the craving of horror aficionados for classic popcorn horror entertainment.

Director Stewart Sparke says, “Ayvianna brings a sinister allure to the role of Velma, a character whose devious actions unleash monstrous horrors”.

"Punch" narrates the tale of a young woman's decision to have a final night out in her coastal hometown. However, her departure isn't opposed solely by friends, family, and ex-partners; the local boogeyman, Mr. Punch, is lurking, ready to carry out his sinister intentions. As chaos ensues, Frankie and her companions must fight for survival in this end-of-the-pier slasher with a seaside-gothic twist. Ayvianna's appearance is noteworthy as she plays a striking yet unfortunate party guest who falls victim to Mr. Punch's horrors.

In "Wrath of Dracula," Ayvianna assumes the role of Maria, the primary Bride of Dracula. Led by Professor Van Helsing, Mina Harker (played by Hannaj Bang Bendz) embarks on a brave journey to rescue her beloved husband, Jonathan, from the clutches of the ominous Castle Dracula. As they navigate the shadows and uncover the castle's hidden secrets, they are resolute in their mission to free Jonathan from the clutches of the infamous vampire. However, Maria aligns herself with the Count's efforts to entice Mina into joining them at Castle Dracula.

Director Steve Lawson said, "I was delighted to be able to work with Ayvianna again (following Ripper's Revenge), and this time in a much more substantial role - as Maria, Dracula's favourite bride."

The UK horror/indie horror scene is a tight-knit community. Do you enjoy attending events like Frightfest, interacting with fans and meeting industry peers?

It really is such a tight-knit community and that's what I love about it! We all support each other's work. "Video Shop" just premiered at Horror-on-Sea and so many people came out to support it, they actually had to open two screens and play it on both simultaneously. The same thing happened at FrightFest with "LOLA". It is lovely to be part of that community. 

 

What are the best films you have watched recently (horror and any other genre) that you would recommend?

I loved last year's A24 horror "Lamb" as I thought it did something really interesting with the genre; it was about a childless couple living in rural Iceland, and how their desperation for a child leads them down a strange path. The cinematography is beautiful and it felt strange and ethereal; it blended horror with fantasy. And I think Cate Blanchett is astounding in "Tar".

 
What was the first horror film you ever watched, and how did it make you feel?

The first one was "The Shining" - I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to horror as it is such a well-made film with amazing performances!

 

Do you have any fears and phobias in real life?

I'm not great with spiders! 


In Video Shop Tales of Terror you star in the Vergessen segment, tell us a bit more about it?

I play Ilsa Lall, an unwilling participant in 'Operation Vergessen'. Together with the other occupants of the 'Frau Haus', I seek to escape, and exact revenge on my tormentors by any means possible!

It's based on a true story; during the war, the Nazis trained women as spies and placed them in a brothel frequented by high-ranking officers with instructions to record the men - the bedrooms were all wire tapped. It was part of the Nazis intelligence gathering.

Our film is about those women and their story, as they attempt to overcome their oppressors and escape.

It was important to me as I think women's stories often get overlooked and forgotten when we talk about the war. 

Video Shop Tales of Terror kickstarts a new horror anthology – will the team/cast be the same for the upcoming film/s?

I certainly hope so! I love working with Michael Fausti; he's an intelligent director with a great vision. And Kemal Yildirim who did the cinematography also writes and directs, so I would love to work with him too. 


What new projects do you have coming up that you would like to share with us?

I appear in Steve Lawson's "Ripper's Revenge" which is out on 3rd April. I am also lucky to appear in "How To Kill Monsters" directed by Stewart Sparke, a horror comedy, later this year! And "The Final 45"; a period drama set during the Second World War where I play a French resistance leader fighting Nazis!

Is there a horror film that scarred you as a child?
I have always been terrified by 'The Shining.'

What is your favourite horror film, and why do you love it?
My favourite horror film is 'Little Joe', directed by Jessica Hausner. The cinematography has a Kubrickian quality; lots of long, slow pans zooming into two characters talking and then creepily continuing past the actors, focussing on the background as if the actors are only incidental to the scene. The camera is forever peering round corners, giving us the impression of eavesdropping on conversations we weren't meant to hear.

What I love about this film is that it's a slow burner; it's not all jump cuts and gory, bloody deaths; instead, Hausner manages to build a growing sense of unease. The film is disturbing and unsettling rather than flashy. There is a question over whether the lead character, Alice, can truly trust her own perceptions.

In terms of working in independent film, what are the most creative or funny things you or cast colleagues have had to do to make a scene work / be scary?
When I made 'The Lockdown Hauntings' with Howard Ford, he was acting as a one-man camera crew to comply with the Covid restrictions, which meant he had to do every job himself. I remember him having to pull a bit of string to make a door close on cue while also having to operate the camera, record the sound and say the other actor's lines! When the ghost appeared behind me briefly in one scene, he had to set the camera up, put the mask on and then play the ghost himself!

What appeals to you about working in the horror genre?
I think it is such a versatile genre. Many different topics can be explored through a horror lens. And horror has traditionally featured strong leading roles for women.

You recently narrated Orchestrator of Storms, a documentary about the life and work of Eurocult director Jean Rollin…
As an actress who works mainly in the horror genre, I am thrilled to be involved in Orchestrator of Storms, as Jean Rollin is, in many ways, the father of modern horror. His influence on horror has been so far-reaching.

What else do you have coming up?
'Video Shop Tales of Terror' is out in January 2023

INTRODUCING ACTRESS AYVIANNA SNOW - NOW STARRING IN NEW HORROR FILM ‘BARUN RAI AND THE HOUSE ON THE CLIFF’

Ayvianna Snow is a multi-talented actress who is taking the UK by storm and will be starring in numerous films this year and in 2022, including new horror film Barun Rai And The House on The Cliff, out in cinemas from 29th October. 

Filmed in Essex, Barun Rai And The House on The Cliff follows newly-weds who have just moved into their dream home, where they face an unexpected and terrifying turn. Their love is tested by unexplained chilling incidents, with Barun Rai, a detective who solves paranormal activities uncovering hidden, chilling, and supernatural truths about the house. In the film, Snow plays Polly; a newly-wed bride in the 1920s who meets a tragic end...!

Snow is no amateur when it comes to leading roles in horror films.  Her mysterious persona and powerful eye contact instantly absorbs viewers and  has ultimately led to her being  cast in numerous horror films. 

Snow also landed a leading role in recent 2021 feature film 'Black Lake', which was selected to be screened at the Women in Horror Film Festival in Atlanta in February 2020 and also winning  the Best Cinematography award. It was also selected for ShockFest, Salem Horror Fest 2020, Montreal Requiem FearFest, and Cine-Excess where it was a Semi-Finalist.

Ayvianna also starred in 'White Colour Black', which screened at the BFI London Film Festival, and was nominated for a BIFA (British Independent Film Award), in 2016 and was released in cinemas in 2020. 

Snow will also be appearing in hotly anticipated releases in 2022 including; 'L.O.L.A.', a sci-fi film about the relationship between two sisters, staring alongside Emma Appleton. 'Hollow’, an indie horror feature shot in Hereford, written by 'Dr Who' TV writer Keith Temple, and 'The Lockdown Hauntings', which was shot during the first lockdown, directed by Howard Ford. Snow has also filmed both lead roles in 'The Good Wife', directed by Dean M. Drinkel, a psychological horror about two women; a modern woman, Fiona, and her evil doppelganger ghost, Elizabeth, both played by Snow. 

Ayvianna began her career by training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's Youth Theatre course. Following this, she gained a B.A. (Hons.) in Acting from The Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. Ayvianna is also currently filming 'The Final 45'; where she plays a French Resistance leader during the Second World War, directed by Ian Manson.

Dubbed ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ meets ‘Friday the 13th’, the gruesome slasher stars Jessica Ann Brownlie (Valley of the Witch), Jess Impiazzi (The Only Way Is Essex), Marcia do Vales (Ibiza Undead), Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare), Akie Kotabe (Humans), Anthony Ilott (Wrong Turn 6), Ayvianna Snow (Heretiks) and Devora Wilde (Rush). It’s directed by Dan Brownlie (Self-induced Nightmares, Serial Kaller)

 

Synopsis: A clutch of C-list celebrities and the tabloid press have gathered at ‘The London Tombs’ to participate in a publicity stunt for a new horror movie being launched  They and the cast are to take part in a filmed challenge in which their task is to find the skull of notorious necromancer Robert White. The tour guide actors are on hand to make their mission as scary as possible.

Little do they know that deep in the bowls of the building something has awoken and what starts as a night of frightful fun turns into one of intense terror when the evil entity starts stalking the claustrophobic halls of this maze of terror.

 

Some games just shouldn’t be played…

 

THE TOMBS, shot over a five week period at the end of 2016, was the first film allowed access to The London Tombs.

 

Director Dan Brownlie commented: “We were incredibly privileged to be allowed to film there. considering this was the first time that the attraction has ever allowed third party photography of any kind to take place. It was an fantastic opportunity not to be missed”

 

Producer Rachel Gold added: “With the success of attractions like ‘Secret Cinema’ and, the growth of interactive genre experiences, it was a great opportunity to create a movie where the actual film location is open to the public to experience for themselves what our film’s characters are going through.”
